Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints. Massage therapy helps alleviate the discomfort associated with every day occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions.

Pregnancy Massage

Massage therapy can help with the physical changes the body goes through during pregnancy, as well as help to prepare the body for delivery. Special care is taken to ensure mom and baby are safe and comfortable. Options include side-lying treatment or the use of a body cushion that creates space for your belly while supporting the body.

Cupping Massage

Cupping therapy uses plastic cups with a suction gun to create a controlled amount of suction, lifting the tissue. This lifts and creates space in the layers of tissue increasing blood flow to the superficial tissue and getting rid of stagnation. Cupping therapy can be helpful with scar tissue or restrictions, lymphatic flow and promoting healthy tissue.

I have always known I wanted to work in Health Care. What really pulled me towards Massage Therapy was how it encompasses the treatment of conditions/ailments and supporting general well-being. The World Health Organization defines health as “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” Being able to help people reach their optimal well-being is my goal.

My philosophy in practice is treat with a balance between using techniques to address any injuries or aliments, as well as creating a sense of calm and activating the parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system. When clients are calm and relaxed it can create a treatment that is beneficial both physically and mentally.

Areas of focus in my practice are, but not limited to: Head and face massage; headaches and migraine therapy; cervical spine manipulations (neck pain and injury treatment); TMJ (jaw) massage; whiplash and whiplash-associated disorders; low back pain; cupping therapy; post concussion care; preventative maintenance; scoliosis and postural issues; iliotibial band syndrome; pain management; pregnancy massage; wellness massage; home care and stretching.

I have taken a wide variety of continuing education courses over the years, spanning from cupping therapy, concussion assessment, craniosacral training, nerve flossing, deep tissue techniques and 200HR Yoga Teacher certification.
